Bosses
There are only four normal bosses in Majora's Mask, but they make up for the small number by being original and difficult in their own ways. Even Twinmold, which has appeared in a past game, is a completely new experience. Once you get the Fierce Diety's Mask, you can only use it in boss chambers.
Masked Jungle Warrior; Odalwa: The boss of Woodfall Temple. He is a massive fighter with a sword and shield bigger than you are. If you move close to him he will hit you with his sword. Wait until after one of his attacks or while he is chanting and then fire an arrow to stun him. This leaves him vulnerable to your sword for a short time. He does not need to be stunned for you to inflict damage, but it will save you from his blade. Odalwa's primary attacks involve his sword. He will swing it at you, perform jump attacks, and use spin attacks. To avoid his spinning blade, stay close to his feet. Odalwa sometime summons beetles, which you can destroy for hearts and other items. If he summons a cloud of moths, throw a bomb (or one of the bomb flowers in the arena) to distract them and destroy some. Odalwa also conjures rings of fire to try to trap you, which also destroy any moths that are bothering you. When he is dead, you receive Odalwa's Remains and a Heart Container.
Masked Mechanical Monster; Goht: Goht is an enormous electronic juggernaut. After thawing it with a Fire Arrow, it begins running around the track on the outside of the room. Roll after it as Goron Link, using the green jars on the track to replenish your magic. Repeatedly slam it with your spikes until it falls over, and then smash it with Goron Punches. The more damage you do to Goht, the more distractive its attacks become. It kicks up boulders and drops stalactites to stop your charge, lets off Link-seeking bolts of lighting after you hit it or if you fall too far behind, and drops bombs onto the track. When your last hit lands, Goht malfunctions and plows into a wall, burying itself in a pile of boulders and giving you access to a Heart Container and Goht's Remains. Fierce Diety's Mask is pretty much useless in this battle.
Gargantuan Masked Fish; Gyorg: Gyorg is an armor-plated fish with enormous teeth and razors for fins. You start the fight from a small platform. If you are on the platform, Gyorg will ram it to throw you into the water. Alternately, it will leap over the platform to scrape you with abrasive scales. If you are in the water, Gyorg can pull you into its mouth, inflicting massive amounts of damage. To damage Gyorg, you must stun it with an arrow or Zora Link's boomerangs, then quickly run to it underwater and attack it. After a successful strike, swim away quickly, as Gyorg will spring back to life and try to bite you almost instantly. At some point, Gyorg will release smaller versions of itself. Zora Link's barrier will make short work of them, if they bother you at all. After your last strike, Gyorg will strand itself on the platform and shrivel away, leaving you Gyorg's Remains and a Heart Container.
Giant Masked Insect; Twinmold: The gargantuan centipede that appears out of the ground is most definitely one of the most intimidating enemies you have seen so far. When the second monster emerges, this battle almost certainly wins the award for most drastically outmatching the hero. Thankfully, you have the Giant's Mask. Compared to Link, Twinmold is almost unfairly huge and fast, and the swirling dust and soft sand don't help. However, after putting on the Giant's Mask, the two centipedes are not nearly as frightening. The Giant's Mask constantly drains your magic power, so keep an eye on the meter. You won't have much time as Giant Link, so hack away at Twinmold's two week points (their heads and their tails), ignoring the damage that you will undoubtedly receive. Trapped between these two huge monsters, you will not be able to avoid them, and you will waste valuable time if you try. When you are almost out of Magic Power, smash one of the stone structures that dot the arena. If you completely run out of Magic, you can lure Twinmold to one of the structures in hopes that it will smash the rock. Note that you must be normal Link in order to pick up items. As normal Link, your attack options are annoying, at best. The best method for inflicting damage is to fire arrows (light arrows do the most, but if you're even attempting to fight as normal Link you're probably out of magic) at Twinmold's tails, although this becomes very difficult, as they speed up as they take damage. If you completely run out of arrows, you can (Heaven forbid) attempt to hit Twinmold's head with bombs when it dives at you. If you run out of bombs... well there's always the hookshot. IMPORTANT NOTE: Walking too far to the side of the arena will result in appearing back in Stone Tower Temple, forcing you to fight your way back to Twinmold, where you must restart the battle.
