Deku Baba (withered): Evil plants that stand straight up and wobble around. They hurt if you touch them. Kill one for a Deku Stick. Slash at them with your sword to kill them. Will usually only take about 1-2 hits.
Deku Baba (normal): After it lunges at you attack it with your sword. It will stand up, so quickly cut it again for a Deku Stick. Killing one in any other position will give you Deku Nuts.
Big Deku Baba: So it’s a little bigger. Kill it the same way that you would a normal one. NOTE: L-targeting puts the cursor halfway up the stem, where attacking will not do anything. If you want to cut down a vertical one, turn off targeting before you try.
Keese: Bat-like things that fly at you to attack. L-target one when it gets close. Even if it flies away you will stay targeted, so let it come back and then attack it. If you have a ranged weapon, use it. If a Keese ever touches a flame it will become a Fire Keese.
Fire Keese: Made from Keese touching fire. The same as Keese but they are burning, so they do more damage than a regular keese. IF YOU ARE USING THE DEKU SHIELD DO NOT LET ONE TOUCH YOU. L-target these keese and kill it with the slingshot or bow and arrow. This will prevent you from losing your Deku shield. When you get the Hyrulian shield, you can block, then destroy them.
Gohma Egg: Hatches into a Gohma Larva if you get to close. Hitting them with any weapon will kill them (including a Deku Nut). Sometimes they hang on the ceiling. If you must walk under one and don’t have a ranged weapon, target it and hold up your shield while you do. Impact with a shield will kill it. NOTE: If you try to shoot one off the ceiling, aim for the place where it is attached, or your shots won’t work. It is a good idea to kill them while they are in this form. If you let them hatch, and become a larva, it can become a lot harder.
Gohma Larva: Miniature Gohmas that jump to attack. They turn red before they attack. Block their jump and then retaliate with your sword. NOTE: Jump attacks tend to hurt you as well.
Skulltula: Giant spiders that drop down in front of you. Their white side is invulnerable to all attacks (unless they are stunned by a Deku Nut). Wait for them to turn around and then attack. (see tips and tricks for other ways to kill them).
Skullwalltula: Skulltulas that hang on vine-covered walls. The best plan is to shoot them off before you try to climb up (although sometimes you do not have that option. In this case, just try not to let them see you.) If a Skullwalltula sees you it will turn purple. This is your signal to jump off the wall, or else it will hit you, you will take damage, and you will fall anyway.
Golden Skulltula: Stationary spiders that give you a Golden Skulltula Token if you kill them. They are often hidden, but the scratching sound they make gives them away.
Mad Scrub: If you get to close it will hide in the grass that it lives in. Reflect the nuts it shoots at you back at it with your shield, then chase it and hit it with your sword.
Business Scrub: If you go to close, they will hide in the grass. Reflect the nuts it shoots back at them. After they are hit, they will offer you deals. Sometimes the deals will be rip-offs, but sometimes may be necessary for you to get. Other times, you find them at a huge discount. Always make sure to check for others when you meet one, because sometimes you will find 3 that sell the exact same thing, but at different prices.
