Past Layouts

Version 1: Ultima

For some reason I didn't get a picture of this layout, maybe it was because it wasn't that good. The layout would look squashed on a 800x600 dimension moniter, it was set up in frames but other than that it was a pretty good first layout, sweet ooze like background, tables that match and a few ok images. It was just like Version 2 but with frames. This layout was hosted on Geocities.

Version 2: Phoenix Ashes

This was not a big deal of improvement however, I managed to get the version up not only on a one screen table layout but also in PHP which allows us to us Fusion news. Other than that the layout was no different, I did introduce a few new content ideas, and I managed to get hosted by PMU's old server. This layout also didn't show up too well on a 800x600 dimension moniter.

Version 3: Midnight Metal

This was more like it, this version was in PHP, with many new improvements and releases, the layout was completely different and fits the 800 x 600 dimension moniters, there was fusion news and we managed to get Invision Power Boards up as well, we updated daily and we reached around 350 hits average. This was hosted with RPG Hideout until it closed down.

Version 4: Titanium Blue

This is probably our layout of succession. This was our first layout that shined, we updated majorly on our gaming section, extending it. We managed to get it to fit on 800x600 dimenion moniters and it was also in PHP. We had many new ideas and releases, like a network, forums, topsites. We also got polls and tagboards up and we reached up to 4000 hits average once. We updated frequently and we were also finally respected as a good site. We moved after this layout due to some faults in Asylum Gaming, our host.

Version 5: Forgotten Memories

This version wasn't as successful as the last. Our hits dropped down dramatically, many of the staffer's lives went astray and ET started to slow down. It was a better layout though, the sidebar was a bit too long, and it was edited alot of times till it met expectations. Since we moved server, since Asylum Gaming was faulty we had to start many of the things we didn't have back ups for like forums. Thanks to the nice sized scrollbars, we managed to get a nice size for the poll and the shoutbox. This layout stayed on for quite a while.

Version 6: Eternal Darkness

This didn't last too long, it was up for a while during the time ET was half-dead, whether it's still dead or not is up to you to decide. The layout was too dark, too complex and too ugly. The two sidebars limited space and made it look too compact. The updates kept going though and ET was somewhat revived at the time. This layout only lasted for weeks.

Version 7: Miracles Happen

This layout is probably the best layout ET has ever seen. The layout itself is set up in a DIV layer format which allows you to put text on pictures in a way. This is how we had some text on the banner as you can see with the link. The previous layout was very, very complex and it came that complex isn't always the best approach to take. I decided to make the layout clean. The way the content was set out was not in tables anymore, unless required. The text was easy to read and it looked great. The banner was also very simple without too many effects. We are a gaming site, not a site which shows off effects. The size allowed for 800x600 resolutions to view comfortably but also allowed for a very large content space and sidebar. This was mainly due to how we only had one sidebar. It still must've been a pain for lower resolutions to scroll down for the shoutbox and poll which were towards the bottom of the page. In terms of content, this layout took in alot, it was also up for a very long time. It was replaced with V.8 when Swift returned from his absense. Also this layout was the first one that wasn't blue for ET.

Version 8: Distant Future

This was the first layout to use and rely so heavily on dropdown menus. When V.7 fell through without warning and without a proper backup, everything was lost, including the forums. Most of the game content was saved, but that’s about it. V.8 had to be started totally from scratch, and as such underwent many changes and tweaks throughout its lifespan.

Version 9: Lifestream

On the website's third anniversary, Swift showed a preview of a light blue layout titled "Tsunami," along with promises that it would be up and ready in three days or so. Sixth months later there was still no layout and absolutely no sign of the site's webmaster. When it finally became apparent that there was no way in hell Tsunami was ever going to be completed by Swift, Blitz took over and tooled together a totally new layout with an overall design that ET had never seen before.

Version 10: Inverted Echoes

Another stab at dropdowns, only this time a million times smoother and nicer looking. This skin also utilized expanders for the side menu so that it could house the usual number of links, more, yet come across overall simpler and sleeker than it's predecessors, with the same if not more content space.
