In their immense greed and struggle for almighty power thirteen of the greatest magicians of all time have plunged the
world into chaos and turmoil. Using dark rituals they summoned mighty Elemental magic whose power soon slipped from
their grasp. The mages could only look on helplessly as the magic, which had been released, raged over the world of
Fiara, destroying large parts of the earth. Continents were shattered by the ancient forces now unleashed and were blown
away like autumn leaves in the wind. In its wake, giant armies bound to the might of the ancient runes scoured the land
- harbingers of war and devastation. A few small pockets of land remained,which emerged as mere islands over the ruined
face of the world their sole link to one another being in the form of a magic portal.Long years have since passed and men,
dwarves and elves have fought side by side against the dark people and ousted few remaining enemies in the remote areas
of Fiara. Destroyed cities and towns have been re-built and it seems that peace has finally been restored. Then one day
Rohen, a wise and good magician, learns that a dark mage has appeared. He has rallied the dark people far up in the North
and it is said that he intends to raise a huge army to unite all the life-giving obelisks under his power. Rohen fears
that if he succeeds he will use this combined force to form a window in time. He will then use it to travel in time to
the great magic duels and secure victory for himself. Rohen himself was once a duellist and the evil ones against whom
he struggled always forced him over to the side of goodness. In great mental turmoil he founded the Order of the Awakened
and became a protector of the survivors.Thus he decides to pursue the source of the rumours and travels to the Wildland Pass. Before he leaves, he creates an avatar - the player in SpellForce.
To support the mighty mage in his mission, he summons a Rune Slave to assist him. This Rune Slave is you. You play the role
in securing the world once again from the forces of darkness. You may even have to use darkness to overcome darkness. The
fate of the world is in your hands now...
