Lloyd is your average hero. Though Lloyd isn't bright, he has a flair for fighting, encouraging and crafting. He is brave, just and enthusiastic (even though he loses it quickly). He is one who is optimistic, he helps people and his righteous heart is one that deserves to be rewarded. He is always there to protect the ones he loves and though sometimes he cannot sort out his own feelings, he is there to encourage and drive the people that are discouraged and are looking down further. Therefore, Lloyd is slowly placed as leader of the team. Lloyd also has a strong heart, even if it disrupts a world's culture and pattern he is willing to protect those he loves from death and danger. That is why he tries to find a new way to protect Colette. His ideals are to find a way to make the world a place where no one has to be sacrificed.

Lloyd was found in the woods as an infant with his mother by Dirk, a dwarf. His mother passed on and he continued to learn from Dirk. Due to Dirk being a dwarf, he learnt the dwarven vows and promises to follow them. Dirk's influence on Lloyd is one that is important and is realised throughout the game. Lloyd is close friends with Colette and Genis and is loyal to them. Lloyd discovers about Colette's journey and follows them to protect her. Though it may not seem like it, Lloyd plays a big part in this game and he is the only reason why the party is driven so far. He is the hand that guides the way and drives people further.

Colette is not one might expect as a Chosen. While she has a strong sense of resposibility of the suffering people in Sylvarant, she is carefree and is clumsy at times. Her clumsiness often saves the day though. Though she is willing to sacrifice herself for the well-being of her people, she cannot as the party tries to find a new way. Of course she looks down and gets discouraged as she becomes an obstacle and a burden for the party but Lloyd often deals with that.

As she turns 17, she sets off for the journey of regeneration. In this journey, she must deal with trials and open the seals of the Summon Spirits. Of course, it comes at a price, she has to become Martel's next vessel and for that, she has to become an angel and lose her humanity. She often looks up onto Lloyd and respects him for his power and his heart.

Genis grew up in Sylvarant but his real home is unknown to him. He tries to hide the fact that he is a half elf due to the severe racism unfairness towards half elves. Genis is a prodigy, he is a genius for someone his age and is talented too. Though he may be arrogant at times, he is a good friend and can understand other people at times. Genis, however, is not one to look at for bravery. He often shakes with fear when hope is very slim, that is why he depends and looks up to Lloyd.

Genis sets off with Lloyd to follow Colette and her group to regenerate the world. Eventually, Lloyd gets caught but he manages to escape and find the party to go save Lloyd. Of course as you proceed with the game, more is learnt about Genis, his origins, his family and most importantly, his past.

Raine is a motherly sort of character. Like Genis, her origins are unknown. She is incredibly intelligent and has a wide knowledge of everything. She was a professor at the school that the children of Iselia go to. She also tries to hide the fact that she is a half elf knowing the racist oppression. She accompanies the group due to her knowledge and her ability to translate foreign languages. Of course she is also there because of her familiarity with archaeology and magi-technology. She can be rather arrogant at times and unfair, but she is caring to the party.

Raine sets off originally with Kratos and Colette to aid them in the journey of regeneration. Though she did not really approve of Lloyd's appearance and company later. She soon realises the importance of the party being a whole.

Kratos first appears as a mercenary. For one who sold their sword for money, he does seem to know much more than expected about everything going on. He also is familiar with many of the enemies that make appearances. While he is cold and silent at times as well as not willing to share anything, he is a kind and caring figure to the ones he loves especially Lloyd. Soon you will continue the game without Kratos and you will realise what and who he is. You will not only have various fights against him but he will make various appearances later which may surprise you.

Kratos appears mid-battle against Vidarr in the temple in Iselia. Of course with him you manage to defeat Vidarr seeing that Kratos' sword handling dwarves that of Lloyd. Later, Kratos is hired to accompany Colette in the journey for regeneration. He disapproves of Lloyd's company later on but soon he realises the importance of Lloyd and respects him much more later on.

Sheena originates from Tethe'alla and her mission was to halt the process of world regeneration. To tell the truth, she made countless efforts to assassinate the chosen. The reason for this is because if the journey succeeds, eventually her world will die out. Eventually, after meeting with Colette and her party, more is revealed. Sheena has a strong sense of justice and follows the ideals of Lloyd about having a world where no one has to sacrifice themselves. Sheena also has obtained the art of summoning, a skill that has long been forgotten in Sylvarant. Without her the dream of having a world of equality where no one has to sacrifice themselves would be impossible.

You will have to have quite a few battles with Sheena before she actually joins you. After a couple of battles she will join your party.

You meet Zelos in Tethe'alla. His position as the chosen of Tethe'alla, his charming looks and his interest in girls makes him attractive to most women. His ignorance for everything other than girls seems to prove annoying to the party. At first sight, Zelos is carefree, egoistic and arrogant at time. He spent most of his time in wealth and luxury that he seems to be unfamiliar with Sylvarant's culture. Later on you will know the true Zelos, there is a real person living in him who thinks things through, cares for others and actually has some problems with his part of the Chosen.

You first see Zelos as an obstacle. Of course, this isn't always the case. He will eventually realise the crisis of both worlds and tries his best to aid them. His position of the Chosen and his power also comes in handy as everyone listens to him.

Presea agreed to assist Cruxis Crystal development by sacrificing her humanity to produce a Cruxis Crystal in her. Due to this, she has lost her ability to age and her emotions in exchange for extreme, unnatural power. As the Lloyd finds a way to counter the Cruxis Crystal's effect, she finally realises what reality is like. Of course, she still holds her power and eventually she becomes a valuable, trustworthy member of the party.

You first meet Presea in Meltokio. Eventually, she joins the party to be able to make it back home quickly. Soon the party discovers her symptoms and what is wrong with her. Eventually the effect of the Cruxis Crystal is countered and she will regain her humanity.

Regal is a mystery. You will eventually find out about his difficult past and how his shackles and his vow to never fight with his hands again. Regal fell in love with Presea's sister. Eventually she turned into a monster due to an Ex-sphere crisis and Regal was forced to kill her. With guilt and redemption, Regal asked to be able to be sent to prison. Regal remains quiet in your party, he rarely gets involved in anything and he feels pain when seeing Presea. Eventually you learn more about Regal and how he punishes himself.

Regal was sent to assassinate the party by the Pope. When he realises Presea, he joins the party for unknown reasons. Regal is one of the elder people in the party and is respected.
